Here are my local favorite restaurants, and some great items to try!

Tavares

La Yaquecita, Alfred Street - I lived in Texas for 28 years and have quite a bit of experience with Mexican food!  Be sure to try the pork tamales, chile relleno, and fish tacos. Muy beuno!

AL's Landing and AL's BBQ, Tavares waterfront. From turkey burgers to smoked turkey, these folks bring you generous portions of super fresh food! Great local entertainment on AL's patio, as if the sea plane watching wasn't enough!

Ruby Street Grille, Main Street - tuna salad on marble rye, and great music on the patio!

Buzzard Beach, US 441 - cold beer on the lake and a grilled hot dog, and you can pull up on your boat!

EZ Nutrition, Alfred Street - great smoothies and protein bars keep me on track!

Angelo's, US 441 - pizza, caprese salad, pasta, garlic knots, and Chianti!

Thai Jasmine, Old Highway 441, the best sashimi I've ever had, and authentic curry dishes you can have as spicy as you like, or not!

Eustis

Crazy Gators, Bay Street southbound side - fried gator tail and best spot on the lake!

The Oyster Troff, Bay Street southbound side - The BEST oysters on the half shell! Delicious shrimp cocktail, steamed shrimp in Old Bay seasoning, and great chowder!  I'm always hungry for their food!

Lakeside Cafe, man oh man, these folks make happy sandwiches and homemade soups that are Fab-u-lous!

Tony's Pizza, Orange Avenue, fabulous homemade salad dressings, great lunch menu, and soon to be famous garlic knots!

Mount Dora

Garden Gate Tea Room, 4th Street - only open for lunch Monday-Saturday, it's my kind of gourmet! Carrot bisque, chicken pie or chicken salad with fresh fruit, daily special quiche and sandwiches. Deliciously refreshing hibiscus iced tea, and a whole menu of teas! Always go for a cobbler desert if they have it!

Highland House, Highland Street - best breakfast anything, great lunches too! Busy busy place but always worth the wait!

Mount Dora Brewery & Cafe, Highland Street - you can eat in the brewery and enjoy a superb micro-brew, blondes, reds, and ales, along with THE best Cuban sandwich.  Live music on the weekends, a beer garden - you can't go wrong here!

Mount Dora Thai Sushi, 5th Street - Coconut chicken soup, chicken sate, shrimp spring rolls, curry chicken, and pineapple rice! Very nice!

The Gourmet Spot, Donnelly Street - great selection of gourmet foods - mustards, relishes, dips, barbeque sauces.  These go in my picnic basket for the beach! And it's a great place to get a gift that they will wrap for you!

Vincent's, US 441 - the small calzone will feed a family of 4!

Lisa's Country Kitchen, 19-A South, wonderful cafe with yummy breakfast and daily specials! Don't miss the tuna croquettes and I've seen amazing crepes served quite a few times!
